The Struggle of Fauzy, a 5-Year-Old Boy, to Have a Normal Bowel Movement

In the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic, YPP SCTV Indosiar and Serbu Seru Bukalapak continue to provide support for the cost of care and treatment for patient Fauzy Alviansyah Nugraha (5) who suffers from Hirsprung or a disorder of the colon that makes him unable to defecate normally like other children his age. Currently, Fauzy is under the intensive supervision of the Army Hospital team of doctors consisting of urology and pediatric surgery specialists after undergoing surgery to repair the bladder and intestinal connection.

Fauzy has had a colon disorder or Hirsprung since he was a baby, so he cannot defecate normally. Before receiving financial support from YPP, Fauzy had undergone 12 surgeries. However, the patient has not yet recovered, he often experiences pain when defecating. The first operation was performed when the patient was 5 days old, which was an operation to remove the thin membrane blocking the anal opening. The operation went well so that the patient could defecate normally.

At the age of 15 months, Fauzy again had difficulty defecating so he had to undergo another surgery to widen the anal opening, but at that time the patient's condition had not improved so the surgeon gave him a colostomy. At the age of 2 years, Fauzy just underwent colostomy closure surgery. Unfortunately, one week after the operation, there was a problem that required another colostomy and several operations because the stitches were open several times. After that the stitches improved, but the defecation was uncontrolled where 10 minutes after eating/drinking the patient immediately defecated. Due to economic constraints, the patient could not afford to continue treatment. Every day the patient had to buy 2 colostomy bags. This family is a simple family, who rely on the daily income of Fauzy's father who works as a laborer.

YPP in collaboration with AO Care, Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Sahabat Kristiawan Peduli and Respek Peduli Foundation helped Fauzy to be able to defecate normally.Since March 19, 2020, Fauzy has been treated at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital undergoing a series of operations. According to a pediatric surgeon at Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Dr. Catur S. Sutisna, SpBA, Fauzy's disease is a congenital disorder from birth, as well as an abnormality in the intestines. According to this doctor, it is important for pregnant women to carefully maintain their health conditions and nutritional intake during pregnancy so that the formation of fetal organs takes place normally. This collaborative effort is expected to make Fauzy defecate normally.
