Yayasan Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih (YPP) SCTV Indosiar, BNI, and the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs are organizing a cataract surgery social service program called “Seeing Clearly on Sumba Island” from November 21-23, 2025. The Cataract Surgery Social Service was held at the Reda Bolo Regional General Hospital, Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, and was supported by eye specialists from Perdami NTT and the Lombok Eye Clinic.
As a form of contribution to reducing the number of blindness cases due to cataracts in Indonesia, BNI provided financial support for cataract surgeries in Southwest Sumba, following its previous support for cataract surgeries in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai.
The cataract patients came from four regencies on Sumba Island, namely Southwest Sumba, West Sumba, Central Sumba, and East Sumba. The patients were mobilized by the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, which covered transportation from their homes to the location, accommodation, and meals during the event.
