Free Cataract Surgeries in Ternate

Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation SCTV Indosiar (YPP), together with the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs and PERDAMI South Sulawesi, held a Cataract Surgery Social Service program in Ternate City, North Maluku on August 15 and 16, 2023. The surgeries were carried out in 2 different clinics, namely Azzura Clinic and Ar Rahmah Clinic. YPP SCTV Indosiar successfully supported the financing for cataract surgery on 200 eyes.

Hundreds of patients from various areas in the North Maluku Province took part in the free cataract surgeries. Apart from Ternate City, patients also came from Tidore, South Halmahera, Sofifi, Central Halmahera, Bacan Island, and others.

Present during the program’s activities were the Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs,  Tri Rismaharini and the Chief Executive of YPP,  Abas Yahya. The Minister of Social Affairs expressed her gratitude for YPP SCTV Indosiar and viewers who have donated in support of the program, seeing as cataracts pose dire problems on its sufferers, hindering them from performing regular tasks and requiring them to rely on their peers.
