Yayasan Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih in collaboration with Bank Tabungan Negara Persero Tbk carried out Gender Equality Education activities for women and teenagers in Solo, Central Java on November 1, 2024.
The speaker at this event was Mrs. Denok Marty Astuti, an environmental activist who is persistent in mobilizing the community, especially Solo residents to reduce piles of waste that can pollute the environment by developing a waste bank program. With the environment increasingly plagued by waste, an initiative has emerged that combines gender equality with sustainability: the establishment of an organic waste bank that involves the active role of women. This educational activity aims to raise awareness of the importance of waste management and strengthen the position of women in the community.
Thanks to her resilience and consistency, the program, which has been running since 2016, has succeeded in inviting communities in the Greater Solo Region to establish more than 200 waste banks, empowering more women.
On this occasion, YPP and Bank BTN handed over assistance to 5 groups of residents who will establish Waste Banks in the Surakarta area.
Mr. Cesar Ario Basuki, as Branch Manager of BTN KC Solo, symbolically handed over the assistance in the form of equipment and tools packages consisting of:
- 20pcs Waste Composter
- 5pcs Digital Scales
- 250pcs Waste Bank Savings Book
- 5pcs Name Board
This activity is expected to not only create solutions to the waste problem, but also empower women and emphasize that women have an integral role in sustainable development efforts.
