SCTV Indosiar Pundi Amal Peduli Kasih Foundation (YPP), in collaboration with the South Sulawesi PERDAMI and Hapsah Hospital in Bone, conducted the Cataract Surgery Social Service program on February 29, 2024.
Taking place at the Hapsah Hospital in Bone, 67 patients were successfully operated on by 9 ophthalmologists. Screening was carried out on 173 patients, 83 of whom were diagnosed with cataracts. 15 patients were reported to be absent out of fear, while 5 patients were diagnosed with high blood sugar.
According to the Director of Hapsah Hospital, dr. Sarah Eisya Putri, Sp.M, the blindness rate in Bone Regency is still quite high. As results from the screening has shown, cataract levels varied from mild to severe. This underlines the important role YPP SCTV Indosiar’s support plays in helping patients return to their day-to-day activities without having to worry about their vision.
